Something I've learned from Yogg-Saron. If there is ever a group of people trying to kill you, make sure you don't let them punch you in the brain.
Of course, even after making that fatal mistake, Yogg was no pushover. I personally think that the encounter is quite fun. The constant debuffs from the Corruptor tenticles are a little more on the annoying side than the challenging side, but everything else is quite well done.
Obviously it hasn't been only Yogg-Saron. We made our way through every other boss on normal mode, and have started working on some of the hard mode achievements as well which are, shockingly enough, actually hard.
Marfin also managed to get his hands on the beginnings of the guild's first legendary item. Knowing our track record for legendaries, it seems unlikely that we'll ever actually complete it, but so far so good!
All in all, Ulduar has been quite fun so far, and everyone in the guild has done a fantastic job at standing up to the challenge and allowing us to maintain the natural order of guild progression on the server.
At the same time though, we've had to say goodbye to one of the almost permanent fixtures of Pantheon, as Cadusa has decided to take some time away from raiding. While we still have Rastar around to buff shadow resist or whatever it is that Shadow Priests do, Cadusa will certainly be missed. Just remember to enjoy the summer 24 times more than normal Cadusa, because you have to make up for the rest of us!
While we didn't make much of an effort to take a good kill shot of many of the other bosses (largely because they didn't take much of an effort to kill on normal mode) here are some random shots from our first week of Ulduar.
It's definately been a good few weeks, and with hard mode progress looming on the horizon, there's no shortage of challenges for now. If our current progress towards them is any indication, expect to see some hard mode kills pop up here soon.
That's all for now, I'm going outside.
Actually... nevermind, that cloud is giving me a weird look. I don't trust it.. |

Mortality, ur doin it rong
|
As frustrating as it was at times, it was nice to finally complete an achievement that actually felt like an achievement.
While it is a really exciting challenge worthy of achievement points to kill critters, create bandages or bake cakes, doing something that actually encourages proper play and (indirectly at least) increases the almost non-existent death penalty in WoW is a welcome change to me!
In an effort to help out anyone that may still be working on this one, here are some tips that would have made our lives a little easier...
- Don't blink into poison clouds
- Don't walk into poison clouds
- Don't auto-run into poison clouds
- If you're in a poison cloud, move out of it
- Don't stand near zombies
- Learn to and/or practice jumping
- Understand the difference between 40 yards, and less than 40 yards
- Have your tanks practice Occlumency
While not all of these things actually resulted in deaths, they certainly caused everyone to panic, for a moment at least. It is quite a relief to have this one over and done with, before the removal of the Black Proto Drakes.
Unfortunately, as you can see, we are still completely horrible at taking a proper screen shot. I think it's a psychological disorder though, because while mounted our ability to stand in formation increases by about 75%. The Amani War Bear and now the Black Proto Drakes have been our best coordination to date.
I'm sure if there was some sort of "Stand in a straight line with 24 other people" achievement we would have gotten it on the boat on the way to Northrend, or Kyradis would have bought 24 other accounts.. but since there's no shiny box announcing how truly awesome we are at lining up, we're just not interested, cause I mean if WoW doesn't tell us what's worth doing and what isn't.. how would we know!?
Anyways.. we're now immortal, apparently, so let's hope that helps in Ulduar.
Also. Edit is no longer raiding, which makes me a little sad. I will always have fond memories of us running through the flowery fields of 10 man Nax, hand in hand.. er.. uh, have fun in that scary place called "real life" Edit! and remember, girls are just like NPCs with daily quests that require Chocolate, Flowers or Shoes. |

Content Finished! Feeling Pretentious!

"As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such a twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air—however slight—lest we become unwilling victims of the darkness."
Well, that's it! Pack up your bags, leave your key under the mat and get the hell out! WoTLK is officially over. After several nights of wiping, my "angry voice", and way too many whelps, Sartharion and his three Drakes are dead!
We completed the "Heroic" kill a few weeks ago, but it wasn't much to write home about. It's tough, but the normal version is definately a step up, which makes no sense but hey, Neither does introducing another 2H weilding plate wearing DPS/Tanking hybrid when they already had Paladins and giving them 900 cooldowns all on a 5 second refresh that make them immune to death while still able to do 5000 DPS. THEIR ARMOR LOOKS BETTER TOO! *ANGRY VOICE*
...anyways, here's the Heroic 3 Drake Sarth, I could have got a good screenshot but YOU KNOW WHO ruined even that:
Alright alright, I'm way off topic as usual. Back to the point. We have now completed all current content and are eagerly awaiting Ulduar. Truly hoping that Ulduar brings us some true challenges. There are definately some good fights in WoTLK so far, but the difficulty just isn't there yet.
Hopefully we'll do something else newsworthy between now and Ulduar, Immortal perhaps? Line up properly in a screenshot? Unlikely. |

WotLK - Issue 2
|
We have seen the defeat of all of the current content with the downing of Sarthairon and the three twilight drakes; in time for the holidays at that. Speaking of holidays, while it's not this writer's particular thing, Merry Christmas to everyone!

The new year is just around the corner, only a week away, and I'm sure we'll meet all the new challenges of the new year with the same intensity shown this year. Here's looking for good things to come....

Achievement Spam!
|
Wrath of the Lich King has hit the live servers and.. wait, what? We're done?
Really? I don't even think I enchanted my stuff, are you sure we didn't miss a quest hub? Some secret underwater raid zone full of challenging raid level penguins? maybe we can just move Sunwell over here and call it Frostwell at least? no?
Wow well, I guess that makes this update a little boring, but an update it is nonetheless.
We may not have had much (any) trouble (mild inconvenience) with any of the raid bosses, save Malygos, and I fully expect other guilds who are able to press the space bar in a mildly coordinated rythm to soon be drowning in a wonderful sea of "epic" loot, if you can even call it that these days. It's starting to feel more and more like epic loot is actually just a prize you get for participation - Congratulations, you have assembled 10 adventurers - are you prepared!? ...to roll for epics.
All that aside however, we pressed our buttons on them first and in the World of Warcraft, that makes all the difference.
Our latest and greatest, and what I can safely say is the hardest plain (plain being non-achievementy) encounter in the game so far would be Malygos. It's a typical WoW fight though in the sense that once you figure it out, you one shot it and are left trying to figure out how you wiped to it twenty times. I'm sure it was Mos's fault. Edit is also Ret which is strange and scary and I think may have broken something, and Keff is no longer healing which saddens Protection Tiluvar very much. It's a topsy turvy frozen little world we live in.
Here's hoping that Ulduar will bring us some truly challenging content. Until then, enjoy the free loot while you can! cause you know what comes next. |
